On This Day in History, India Launches PSLV-C54’s Mission: Revolutionizing Climate and Ocean Observations

On this day, 26 November 2022, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched earth observation satellite EOS-06 and eight nano-satellites onboard a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C54) rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) in Sriharikota at 11:56 IST.

The EOS-06 satellite also known as Oceansat-3 was the third-generation satellite in the Oceansat series, succeeding Oceansat-1 and Oceansat-2. Its primary mission was to continue ocean observation from space, focusing on ocean color data, sea surface temperature, and wind vector data. The observations are critical for applications in oceanography, climate monitoring, and meteorological forecasting.
